With resolutions and proclamations, left-leaning cities and counties across the United States have started a drumbeat calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

Now Berkeley has taken it one step further.

With overwhelming support from Berkeley residents, the Berkeley City Council unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday night to be the first jurisdiction in the United States to let the public vote for the president's impeachment. The measure will appear on the Nov. 7 ballot, at a cost of about $10,000.

Are you serious? Starving yourself is going to bring the troops home? Hopefully they drop dead from starvation.

"Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan began a hunger strike on Tuesday – and Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn and other stars are joining her in her "Troops Home Fast" protest.

Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004, had her last meal at 12 a.m. on July 4 in front of the White House and will remain on a diet of water, teas and juices until Sept. 1, International Peace Day.

"Everything we do is to get the troops to come home," she told PEOPLE outside the White House on Tuesday. "We want to show the world that there are Americans who are committed to peace. Fasting is such a time-honored way of protest."

Sarandon, Penn, Danny Glover, Willie Nelson and the Rev. Al Sharpton will join communities across America on a "rolling fast," giving up food on designated days and encouraging others to fast with them on those days.

So far, more than 3,000 people from the U.S. and 18 other countries have signed up to join the fast.

Some, like Diane Wilson, co-founder of the Code Pink: Women for Peace and organizer of the hunger strike, are giving up food entirely until the troops come home. "I've done a number of hunger strikes, and this is the biggest already and it just started yesterday," Wilson tells PEOPLE.

Sheehan made headlines last summer when she held a peace vigil while camped outside President Bush's Crawford, Tex., ranch. She plans to return to Crawford in August for the end of her fast."

I ran into the ex today :(

Its been two years since we broke up, and I definately have the better deal with my current hunny, but it still hurts a bit.

Lesson learned...never date someone who's values completely contradict your own convictions.

Sorry, it's been awhile! I've been so busy this year, and my brother's wedding finally wrapped up a month ago (not to mention school's out). Time to take a breather.

I thought the ladies would enjoy this link I found on Ann Coulter's website:

I'll be on much more, promise!

I just got my copy of this month's ROLLING STONE magazine and they amuse me. First off, their political articles are so out of touch with reality it is not even funny (well, ok it is). Like them comparing gay marriage to racism...wow...it's a ploy, I tell you! They say it is like fueled by the "scaremongering conservatice long used to fuel interracial hatred in the south." Wow, could they have their heads deeper in the sand there? Ok, the south is not the only place that harbors racism...it's in NYC, Boston, and even *gasps* California. Do they know that the KKK wasn't even started in south? It was the north freakin' west. OOPS! I guess they didn't know that either. The south is not the only place where people are against gay marriage. Again, California is a state where a LOT of people are against it. You can hate the sin, but not the sinner, as I always say. I have listened to people post about gay marriage and pride month and yes, it's not something I want to hear, but I'm not saying anything to these people. And what is it about these people? This writer is probably one of those people who says..."don't label me", but what are they doing? DING-DING!!! LABELLING! They claim that Bush isn't really against it....that he doesn't really care. Riiiiight. He made a speech on it, and by his actions, you KNOW he is against it. Just because you're conservative, doesn't mean you're against it, but he is, I am and so THERE! They say also that Laura Bush didn't want him to make that speech. That doesn't mean she is for it, you 'tards! That just means she knew that he would hafta put up with all of the media bashing him. And then we hear from HER....Mary Cheney. Well, of COURSE she's opposing Bush, she's a lesbian! GEEZ! These people think that they have come up with something new...it's pathetic really.

Then we move on to the dumb movie critic that writes for this magazine. He only rates movies high if they're anti-war, anti-Bush, or independent films. Now, they have called Republicans narrow-minded, but doesn't that seem a bit narrow-minded to you as well? Hmmmm.......

Ok, I didn't realize I'd write this much, but there it is.

How lucky we all are today
To live in this great land.
In the home of the free
That our forefathers made so grand.

To honor this proud freedom
We show our colors true.
With a glorious strong symbol
Our Flag, of red, white, and blue.

So remember how this land of ours
Is a home where freedom lives.
Be glad that we have special rights
For which our forefathers lives they did give.

Remember... take a moment today
To show how much you care.
Take the time to raise our flag
And make others around you aware...

That freedom is a special right
Not all countries share.
For we are blessed in this great land
Be proud, and show you care.

This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he?

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture.

Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority of Americans.

However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct!" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.

However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand…

This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.

As Americans...We have our own culture, We have our own society, We have our own language, We have our own lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over centuries of...Struggles, Trials, and Victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto! This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.......... founded this nation. This is and has been clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home because God is part of our culture!

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done with your Complaining, Whining, and Griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life.... I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom - THE RIGHT TO LEAVE!

Is this a lesson in Democracy?

(This image comes from http://www.txminuteman.org/mambo/ covering the walkouts.)

Would you drive around your kid, holding a sign of ANY kind of racial/color pride, and call it a "lesson in Democracy?" Is it right to teach hatred to your kids?

I would never carry a sign that said "White Pride." I have Croatian-Yugoslavian Pride. I have Graphic Designer Pride. "White Pride" is a concept that has never existed in my head. I just want equality, and everyone who lives here to pay their damn taxes.

If you want to comment anonymously on this entry, please do so, I want to hear. I am logging IPs but I won't tell anyone who says what.

Mexicans who migrate here legally, pay taxes, work just as hard as any white person and pay the same horrible rent that we do, do you get offended when illegals do this? Are they giving Mexico a bad name? (And I know you people are here, I appreciate you, rock-on for setting a good example. Some of your kids were among those A and B students who weren't walking out). I'm sorry you have to suffer this with the rest of the taxpayers, white/brown/black/yellow/ whoever.

Is it possible that the California Taxpayers (that's you) just want to save the state from going down the economic stormdrain, and illegal immigrants are the ones turning this into a race issue?

Think, people. Use that brain you were born with. Form an opinion. Don't just say "It's not my business" and go back to watching American Idol as schools and hospitals go broke.

The Mexican students of Montebello High School put the Mexican flag up over the American flag. And put the American flag on upside down.

More of it here, scroll down a bit.

I don't know how many members of this community are here in Southern California.... but I am PISSED..... and I want people to know these walk-outs are so freaking stupid..... oh, and this entry has a lot less foul language than the post on my own LJ.

Anyone reading this who lives in Los Angeles, PLEASE, tell me I am not alone here.

Hello, we are two students at Rochester Institute of Technology currently engaged in an independent study project addressing the issue of hazing. The goal of this project is two-pronged - we wish to discover the prevalence of hazing in the state as well as get your opinion on what should be done about it, if anything.

Under the lj-cut is our survey, which asks a variety of questions about your personal experiences with hazing, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a minute or two from your time to fill it out really quickly. We even have questions at the beginning for those who have never experienced hazing but wish to share their opinion on the subject. Additionally, each question gives you the option to answer in more detail beyond the choices we have already provided. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you have more include in your answer.

Your responses to this survey are anonymous, so please do not put your name (or any information that would identify you) anywhere on this survey. You may quit the survey at any time and for any reason, or you may decline to answer any of the questions, but your responses to every question are important and we ask that you answer as many of the questions as you possibly can. You may post your answers however you like - under your user name, anonymously, or you may e-mail them to us at hazing.survey@gmail.com. All posts will be screened, so no one except you, us, and the community administrator will be able to see your responses.

Please inform us of any questions, concerns, or feedback you might have. Thank you in advance for your time.
